Speeds up to 700 Mbps

The HT-EM2 supports bonded MoCA 2.0, which is capable of delivering speeds up to 700 Mbps over coax. That’s more than enough bandwidth for your most demanding entertainment/home office applications.

Secure and Reliable

The HT-EM2 uses hardware DES and AES encryption to keep your data safe from unauthorized access. You can augment your home’s Wi-Fi network with the reliability of a wired connection where you need it.

Two Coax Ports

The HT-EM2 provides two coax RF ports: one to connect to the wall outlet and one to connect to your TV or cable set top box. As a result, you get blazing networking speeds over your coax network, without having to sacrifice a cable outlet in the home theater.

The maximum throughput over the MoCA network is up to 700 Mbps. Theoretical data throughput numbers are based on maximum, theoretical PHY throughput for MoCA 2. Actual throughput will vary based on the condition and noise found on the coaxial cabling within the home as well as the type of Ethernet Adapter supported on each computer or other device.

FAQ

How do I upgrade Hitron HT-EM2 firmware?
How do I contact Technical Support?
Please click on the Blue Circle with 2 message boxes in the bottom, right-hand corner of this page. A chat window will open and you will be connected to Support.
My MoCA Adapter is not connecting to my Verizon FiOS Router.
If your HT-EM2 MoCA Adapter is not connecting to the Verizon FiOS Router, please make sure that your Adapter is using the latest firmware, version 2.0.0.1.
Do I need more than one HT-EM2 adapter?
You only need one HT-EM2 if you have a MoCA-capable broadband device. If your router does not support MoCA, you will need two MoCA devices, one for your router and one for the device that you want to connect to, a gaming console for example.
How fast is MoCA 2.0?
MoCA 2.0 can reach theoretical speeds up to 700 Mbps.
How many MoCA devices can I have connected to my home network?
Your network can contain a total of 16 MoCA devices including the extenders.
What is the maximum distance between MoCA devices?
The total maximum distance between devices is 300ft including in-wall wiring.
Is the HT-EM2 compatible with satellite services?
No, the HT-EM2 is compatible with cable services, but not satellite services such as DirectTV or Dish Network.
Can I connect an OTA antenna to the adapter?
No, HT-EM2 will not descramble television signals or convert the signal to Ethernet.
What end-devices are compatible with the HT-EM2?
Virtually any device that has an Ethernet port, including Xbox, Playstation, computers, streaming media devices and more.
After connecting a splitter to my network, it no longer works. Why?
The HT-EM2 works in the frequency range from 1175 to 1625MHz. Please make sure the splitter that you are using can cover this range.
Why is my connection speed so slow?
If you are experiencing performance/throughput issues with the connection to your HT-EM2, you should validate the following:

  • Run a speed test of your incoming broadband service to ensure that the broadband service is healthy.
  • Check for faulty/outdated/incompatible coax splitters and connections within your MoCA network that may be restricting speeds.
  • Check that other devices connected to your MoCA network are not hoarding available bandwidth.
  • Check that the Ethernet cable is Cat5E/6 compliant.
  • Check to confirm that your device has a Gigabit Ethernet port (1000Mbps) and not Fast Ethernet (100Mbps).
Doesn't the pre-existing coaxial cable already have the capability of providing Internet?
Yes, but you still need a Cable Modem. The HT-EM2 is a home networking solution and is designed to use your existing coax wiring to extend an Internet connection to areas within your home.
Why can’t I access the internet when connected to the HT-EM2?
If the POWER and LINK LEDs are on, but the MoCA LED is off:
— Ensure that the coax cable is connected to the RF port with the picture of a coax connector

If the POWER LED is on, but the LINK LED is off:
— Please wait up to 90 seconds for the HT-EM4 to establish a network connection.

Why do none of the LEDs turn on?
The HT-EM2 is not receiving power.

  • Ensure that you are using the correct power adapter that came with the device. Using a power adapter other than the one that came with your HT-EM2 can damage the HT-EM2.
  • Make sure that the power adapter is connected to the HT-EM2 and the electrical outlet correctly.
  • Disconnect and re-connect the power adapter to both the electrical outlet and the HT-EM2.
  • If none of the above steps solve the problem, consult your vendor as there might be a fault with the device.
